Cefixime - semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic of III generation for oral use. It has broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and bactericidal action. The mechanism of action is connected with inhibition of bacteria cell wall synthesis. Cefixime is resistant to beta-lactamase action.
The drug is highly efficient against Streptococcus pneumonia, Str.pyogenes, Str.agalactiae, Haemophilus influenzae, H.parainfluenzae, Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis, Esherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, P.vulgaris, N.gonorrhoeae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella oxytoca, Pasteurella multocida, Providencia species, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Citrobacter diversus, Serratia marcescens.
